Thomas Cook Travel Store customers urged to check their holidays are secure

The country is still reeling after the news of the Thomas Cook collapse. But the repatriation of thousands of Thomas Cook customers isn’t the end of the story.
The Thomas Cook Travel Store in Shrewsbury was a much-loved travel agent in the area, with customers placing trust in the historic brand. There will be many customers who booked holidays at the Thomas Cook store, that weren’t Thomas Cook packages but booked with other travel operators, for example P&O or Kuoni. These holiday bookings will still be valid but could be in a state of limbo now the store has shut down. We are urging travellers to take responsibility for their bookings to make sure these trips are secure, and all the details are taken care of.
Our managing director, Claire Moore, comments, “The collapse of Thomas Cook has affected so many holidaymakers in different ways, from those abroad, to people scrambling to keep their holidays in place. Some travellers who have gone under the radar, are those who may have booked non-Thomas Cook holidays, at the Thomas Cook store.
“This week we were approached by a couple who had booked a cruise holiday with the Thomas Cook store, and they didn’t know what to do next. Here at Peakes we were able to take over the booking and ensure everything was still in place.
“We are urging everyone in the area who has used the Thomas Cook store to take responsibility of their bookings and make sure they are in control of their holiday plans. Don’t assume that tour operators and external travel companies will have your contact details from Thomas Cook, they may not do.
“There is no need to panic! You can contact another travel agent, like Peakes Travel Elite, who can take over the booking and check everything is in order.”
