What were your top 3 moments?
Our itinerary was jam-packed, with too many incredible moments to mention. If we had to narrow it down, our top three highlights were…
1. Exploring Mossman Gorge, the ancient Daintree Rainforest, which is world’s oldest tropical rainforest and Cape Tribulation where two UNESCO World Heritage sites collide.
2. Riding the Scenic Heritage Railway up to Kuranda. The train winds its way through 98 curves, numerous bridges and tunnels amidst lush forest and waterfalls. We shopped at Kuranda’s quirky markets and soared back via SkyRail; each point of the journey had the most amazing panoramic views.
3. Snorkelling the Great Barrier at Moore Reef, known for its vibrant coral and diverse marine life. We were lucky enough to spot an eel, a turtle, reef sharks and lots of tropical fish.
Tell us more about your experience...
I have just returned from the trip of a lifetime down under in Tropical North Queensland. This region is known for its unique combination of the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest. If you are seeking adventure, relaxation, and stunning scenery, this region has it all.
We spent with 3 nights in Cairns City, followed by 2 nights in dreamy Palm Cove and lastly 4 nights in Port Douglas known for its famous ‘four-mile beach’. Lots of clients travelling to the Tropical North will only spend a few days in Cairns, however, to really take advantage of the region I would recommend at least a week (or even longer if you have the time) to really immerse yourself and experience all there is to offer.
On our route home, we extended our stay with a crazy 24 hours in Singapore; exploring Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa Island and Chinatown - reaching over 30,000 steps! Singapore makes a great stop over when flying either to and from Cairns. The city is known for its futuristic architecture, diverse culture, delicious food and commitment to cleanliness & safety.
A reason to return?
Australia is such a vast country, meaning there is SO much to explore, with each state offering a different experience. I would love to be able to hire a camper and travel the sunshine coast. We are already daydreaming about our return one day!
