Top 3 Moments?

1. My last visit to the Rockies was 25 years ago in the summer, so waking up in Banff on our first morning to find the beautiful alpine town is literally surrounded by snow-capped mountains was unforgettable. It felt almost dream-like. An easy 15-minute walk out of town took us to the stunning frozen Bow Falls, which were breathtaking and so convenient to town.

2. During our trip, we experienced just about every winter activity you can imagine; from hiking the frozen waterfalls of Johnston Canyon, tubing at Mt. Norquay, e-fat biking to revisit Bow Falls, ice-skating on the frozen lake at Lake Louise. We even tried a morning skiing the fresh powder of Sunshine Village and lived to tell the tale!

3. As always, food was a big part of our adventure. We tasted our way around Banff, sampling everything from sushi and giant ribs to fondue and Beavertails with plenty of local beverages thrown in.

A reason to return?

Banff has captured my heart again after all these years, and I can’t wait to return. We were quite nervous about the low temperatures, but as it’s such a dry climate, we were pleasantly surprised and often felt more comfortable than in a UK winter. I am desperate to visit again in the summer but already plan on returning with our children next winter.
