At the Shrewsbury Food Festival at the end of June, over 27,000 people passed our stand and we got to talk about holidays and travel non-stop! It was great to meet so many interesting people from Shropshire and beyond, and we hope we helped with lots of holiday queries.

There were a few frequently asked questions we received at the food festival that popped up more than once, so we decided to bring them together here for you.

When is the best time to book a holiday?
 
Booking well in advance will usually mean you have more choice. With plenty of notice you can secure a place on your perfect holiday.
 
If you want a particular room or have a special request, there is more chance of being able to guarantee it ahead of time. Also discounted child places will be limited, so you are better off getting in there early.
 
Generally booking in advance means you can take advantage of the best value flights. The cost of low cost or scheduled flights usually only ever increases with time.
 
Also, if you are working around some restrictions, e.g. around school terms dates or restricted holiday periods, it is best to plan in advance to get your valuable seat on that plane!
 
However, if you have plenty flexibility and don’t have your heart set on a specific place or set of dates, then there are last minute bargains out there, especially in the winter months and during term time.
