1. The first stop on our luxury visit to Italy was the iconic Villa d’Este, which occupies an enviable position on Lake Como. Everything from the 25 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens to the delicious food, luxury historical accommodation and super attentive service was breath taking. This is the ideal spot to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary in knock out surroundings and I feel very privileged to have stayed.

2. We journeyed between Lake Como and Milan with our Kirker transfer service, then took the train from Milan to Florence. The first-class experience made the train a real highlight, and at just under 2 hours, made for a super quick journey too.

3. Our stay in Florence was just 15 minutes outside the city at Villa la Massa. Like its sister property, Villa d’Este, it also holds a well-deserved place in the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ collection. This really is a Tuscan dream set overlooking the beautiful River Arno, in wonderful grounds with an amazing pool to cool off in. This delightful property offers all this plus the convenience of Florence just a 15 minute complimentary shuttle away.

A reason to return?

To experience both of these properties with one of our most luxury tour operator partners was a real treat. I’m really looking forward to being able to visit again as 2 nights in each just wasn’t long enough. I’ll certainly pack my most generously sized clothes next time – as the food was far too delicious and abundant!
